Vintage Big Sky Carvers William Bill Reel Rainbow Trout Fish Decoy Carving RARE
PHOTOS OF ACTUAL ITEM. Trout is full sized at 15 inches long. There has never been a more beautiful rainbow trout by Bill Reel than this one, Period! Deep yet vibrant colors in great detail and patina. The oversized heavy duty burl base is simply a looker just by itself and I have never seen a nicer burl base either. I would pay a fortune for it if I need a base to mount a carving. One of the pelvic fins was broken off and missing. All other parts in perfect new condition. It does not show when displayed as it should be (as in the first photo). I believe the fin came off in or right after it left the shop due to the position of the wood grub screw, setting the fish too close to the top of the base. This did happen to some of the big sky trout carvings I have seen and this does not mean that the item was defective or inappropriately handled. Vintage Big Sky Carvers 5.5″x7.5″ Rainbow Trout Signed B Reel. The fish moves from side to side. I believe this to be part of the creation because the fish is intact on the stick and it moves effortlessly. Overall condition through my eyes is excellent. There are no chips nics or breaks. There are some splits on the base that add to the character of the piece. Possibly a little of both. Thank you for visiting!
