One of a Kind!! Big Sky Carvers Montana wood carved sign, signed by artist , Fish stories told here, old fisherman social club, honest to God truths. Signed by artist Bill Reel as is evident by the photos. Born and raised in Whitehall, Montana, Bill has been interested in art his entire life. Although he started mostly with pencil sketches, and other mediums of flatwork, he pursued his career in art by joining the craftsmen at Big Sky Carvers in 1990. It was here that he developed his admiration for wildlife, especially being intrigued by fish carvings and the ability to virtually bring the fish to life by applying airbrush technique to enhance breathtaking colors. In 1996, Bill received high honors in the Masters Fish Carving Competition in Wyoming for his Jumping Rainbow Trout. A year later, his Rainbow Trout carving titled, Big Hole Ballet won first place and Best of Class at the World Fish Carving Competition. To view my full range of products! Vintage Big Sky Carvers William Bill Reel Rainbow Trout Fish Decoy Carving RARE
PHOTOS OF ACTUAL ITEM. Trout is full sized at 15 inches long. There has never been a more beautiful rainbow trout by Bill Reel than this one, Period! Deep yet vibrant colors in great detail and patina. The oversized heavy duty burl base is simply a looker just by itself and I have never seen a nicer burl base either. I would pay a fortune for it if I need a base to mount a carving. One of the pelvic fins was broken off and missing. All other parts in perfect new condition. It does not show when displayed as it should be (as in the first photo). I believe the fin came off in or right after it left the shop due to the position of the wood grub screw, setting the fish too close to the top of the base. This did happen to some of the big sky trout carvings I have seen and this does not mean that the item was defective or inappropriately handled. I believe this to be part of the creation because the fish is intact on the stick and it moves effortlessly. Overall condition through my eyes is excellent. There are no chips nics or breaks.
