Big Sky Carvers Pintail Drake Decorative Decoy-ManCave, Cabin, Lodge, or Den De
This is a Big Sky Carvers Pintail Drake Decorative Decoy. It was finished by Sally McMurry and has her signature on the bottom but no date. It also has the Big Sky Carvers Branded logo on the underneath. The logo is from after they moved from Boseman, MT, to Manhattan, MT, so that gives a better guess as to its age. Typical of Big Sky Carver Decoys, it is finished with hand painting and the use of transparent stains that allow the wood grain to show through. It is near life size, measuring 20 inches from beak to tail, 7 inches tall, and 5\. It weighs 2 pounds 8 ounces. We have been fond of Big Sky Carvers Decoys since they began in the early 1980’s. The Company employed some very talented local artists and their decoys are so well done. We prefer these older versions. This guy is near perfect with a tiny nick on its head, and another on the end of its tail. Pintails are a favorite of most waterfowls for their stunning beauty, which this decoy captures. Big Sky Carvers Pintail Decoy Signed Mary Stevens
This decoy was made prior to their 1987 move to Manhattan, Montana. They’ve discontinued their carved wood decoys, which are now collector pieces. The duck measures 20 1/2 inches long, 7 inches tall to the top of its head and 6 inches across the breast. It weigh 2 pounds 6 ounces and is in excellent condition, with one small scratch on its left side (shown). It bears on the bottom the burned-in brand of the company and the handwritten signature of Mary Stevens along with the word’Pintail.
