Big Sky Carvers Canadian Goose Decoy signed and numbered T. Chandler
This is a Big Sky Carvers Canadian Goose carved and signed by Thomas Chandler. It was made as a part of a Special. Edition series commissioned by Ducks Unlimited of Minnesota. It was made in 1991 and is signed by Thomas Chandler and numbered 200/350. It is made of wood and hand painted to show each feather. Chandler is one of the highly respected artists that was affiliated with Big Sky Carvers of Boseman, MT and this one is typical of their products with a combination of paints and stains that give a truly stunning work of wildlife art. It is not life size, measuring 15.5inches from beak to tail. It is 9.5 inches tall, 6.75 inches wide, and weighs about 6 and 1/2 pounds. The decoy is in excellent condition for being nearly 230 years old. There are a couple of mysterious, smooth lines on the back of the decoy that do not appear to be part of the original carving but are very difficult to see unless the light is just right. We could see no other issues. Please look over all the photos as they are part of the description. Big Sky Carvers made hundreds, if not 1000’s of beautiful decoys for a number of years. Geese, such as this one, are less common and difficult to find. We recommend this one as a special gift, possibly for some yo. Ung water fowler who may have had the good fortune to bag one of these majestic birds. We have never had anyone return one of our decoys and cannot imagine anyone not just loving this guy.
