Big Sky Carvers Snow Goose Decorative Decoy-Man Cave, Cabin, Lodger, Den
This is a Big Sky Carvers Snow Goose Decorative Decoy hand painted by Thomas Chandler. It has his signature on the underneath and also has the Big Sky Carver’s Branded logo from when they were located in Boseman, Montana. It is close to life size measuring 17 inches from its Brest to its tail. It is 11 inches tall, 8.25 inches wide, and weighs just over 7 pounds. The Decoy is in wonderful condition but it does have a few tiny dings which are visible in the photos. It also has a dark colored area on its back left side that appears to be pine sap bleeding through the paint. It likely is over 35 years sine it was made. Big Sky Carvers moved from Boseman to Manhattan, Montana, in the early 1990’s. Their Company was founded in 1980 in Boseman and was responsible for creating a range of beautiful decorative decoys. They employed a number of highly skilled artists from the surrounding area. We have loved their decoys for many yeas and love this one. The did not make huge numbers of Snow Goose Decoys and this is the only one available that we know of. If you collect Big Sky Carvers’ Decoys this is one to look over carefully.

Abercrombie & Fitch Decorative Canadian Goose Decoy-Big Sky Carvers
This is a Decorative Canadian Goose Decoy. It has a brand on the underneath that says, Exclusively Designed for Abercrombie & Fitch. It is also signed by S. Huntsman and has ” Canadian Goose, ” written in their handwriting. It is not dated. It is near perfect but does have a few very slight nicks on its head and also a couple of small blemishes in the paint on its side, which appear to be how the artist left it. Photos give a clear picture. We thought it to be a wonderful decoy. Smaller than life-size, it measures 15 inches from beak to tail. It is 8 inches tall, 6.5 inches wide and weighs 2 pounds, 9 ounces. Our best guess is that it was made for Abercrombie and Fitch by Big Sky Carvers of Manhattan, Montana, probably in the 1990’s. It has been hand painted by a very skilled artist with each feather showing lifelike detail. Anyway, the Abercrombie name helps its value. We thought it a special gift for anyone who appreciates the beauty of a Canadian Goose, whether they pursue them in the field or not.
