This is a Big Sky Carvers Wood Duck Drake Decorative Decoy. It had the Big Sky Logo Stamp on the bottom along with the signature of its artist, Scott Huntsman. It is dated 2007 and numbered 1108. Our photos are clear and give a very good description of the decoy. It is in very good condition but does have some scratches on its left cheek. It is close to life size, 12 inches long from its breast to its tail. It is 7 inches tall, 5 inches wide, and weighs 1 pound, 11 ounces. Big Sky Carvers began in Boseman, Montana, in the 1980’s. They employed extremely talented artist from the surrounding area and they created some wonderful decoys. By 2007 a lot of Big Sky Carver Decoys were being made in Asia and the quality, I felt, was not as high as it was with the earlier decoys. This guy is proof, though that they were still doing really nice decoys. Be sure to notice the detailed painting combined with transparent stains, artistically applied to make a gorgeous bird look almost better than real life. If you have seen wood ducks in the field or have someone close who has hunted them successfully, this would make a very meaningful gift.
