Big Sky Carvers Preening Goose Decoy-Man Cave, Cabin, Lodge, Den Decor
This is a Big Sky Carvers Canadian Goose Decorative Decoy in a preening type of pose. It is signed on the bottom by T. Bouldin and has the Big Sky Carvers Brand on the bottom also. There is an anchor cord wrapped around its neck which has a lead anchor. It is not dated but earlier Big Sky Carver’s Decoys had a brand from Bozeman, MT, while this one is from Manhatten, Mt. We do not have a complete Big Sky Carver’s History but in the early 2000’s the Company Ownership changed and the brand may be from that time period. In any event it is a nicely done decoy and in very good condition. The photos are its best description. Note that it does have some slight marring on the lower right side. The Decoy measures 17 inches long, 6.25 inches wide and 8.5 inches tall. It weighs 5 pounds, 2 ounces including the attached lead anchor. We have loved Big Sky Carver Decoys and this one is a favorite. It is finished with paints and stains which allow the wood grain to show through plus has a very graceful, unusual pose. We could not find it being offered anywhere and invite your inspection and offer. It certainly would be a treasured addition to any collection of Big Sky Carver’s Decoys. The decoy is a preening Mallard that comes in its original box as seen on the photos. Big Sky Carvers Preening Canvasback Drake Decorative Decoy withStamp and Print
This is a Big Sky Carvers Special Edition Decoy made in 1996 for Ducks Unlimited of Iowa. The photos shows the special brand on the bottom. The decoy is signed by what appears to be “Chi Thiu, ” but we are not certain of that name. There is a 1996 Iowa Ducks Unlimited Stamp attached to the botttom. The stamp is of Canvasbacks in flight but not of this preening decoy. We had an unframed print and stamp of the 2002 South Dakota Migratory Bird Stamp of three swimming Canvasbacks that we thought went well with the decoy also. The decoy is 12 x 6 x 8 inches and weighs 2 pounds, 4 ounces. The print is matted but not framed and the outside dimensions are 16 x 14 inches. We always are happy to find a Big Sky Carvers Decoy and this one is a favorite. It is in virtually perfect condition with no marks or damage of any kind. The preening Canvasback is just so well done and being a Special Edition makes it even better and much less common. Surely a treasure in any man-cave, cabin, den, or lodge and a wonderful gift. Big Sky Carvers Preening Canvasvback Decorative Decoy Kissy Durham Man Cave
This is a Canvasback decorative decoy made by Big Sky Carvers. It is close to actual size and appears to be preening feathers with its neck curved back. It was made in 2000 and is signed by Kissy Durham and numbered 01131. It is in like new condition with virtually no imperfections. The decoy is hand painted and stained so that much of the wood grain shows through. It measures 12 inches long, 6.5 inches wide, 7.5 inches tall, and weighs not quite three pounds. Big Sky Carvers has made beautiful decorative decoys in Montana for many years and we have been lucky to have some and enjoy them. This one is very nice and typical of their work. We were unable to find another like it available. Please look carefully at the photos and see what yuouthink. It iwould be an exquisite gift for any waterfowler and look great in their den or man cave.
